Collaborative Problem Solving Steps

  1. Recognize the opportunity for a collaborative problem solving approach and get organized.
  2. Conduct the first meeting - invite area land owners, resource managers and others to participate.
  3. Define the geographic boundaries of the planning area.
  4. Consider multiple resource issues and collect existing data.
  5. Identify individual participant’s objectives and problems – giving consideration to all resources.
  6. Develop action and funding plans to achieve objectives.
  7. Evaluate the group process and progress.
  8. Create and re-evaluate plans to ensure that all problems and objectives are considered and addressed.
  9. Devise a field monitoring system and schedule annual review sessions.
  10. Implement the plan with field projects include annual reviews, recognition of accomplishments, and remain open to new opportunities.
